As part of our commitment to making a positive impact in the healthcare sector, we are proud to announce a recent initiative to support the Histopathology Laboratory at Wathupitiwala Hospital. This project, coordinated by Kassapa Osanda Wickramsinghe, involved the donation of a set of box files and hands-on support to develop an efficient system for organizing patient data. Our efforts demonstrate the potential of small, well-targeted interventions to create significant improvements in public health services.
The Histopathology lab is integral to diagnosing diseases such as cancer, relying on timely analysis of tissue samples. However, the lab had been facing delays in data management. Kassapa, recognizing this challenge, led the volunteer effort to address the issue and streamline the process.
Through the introduction of a well-organized filing system, coupled with guidance on managing patient records efficiently, the lab has now reduced its reporting time. This improvement allows the hospital to deliver quicker diagnoses, ultimately benefiting patient care.
Throughout the project, the volunteer team worked closely with the hospital staff. This collaborative effort has ensured long-term sustainability of the enhanced workflow.
